customized homes without a custom price tag

Dreaming of a home as unique as your tastes and lifestyle? A custom home without a custom price tag? Dusty Rhodes Homes has been making dreams like yours come true throughout the Kansas City area since 1966.

It begins with a carefully choreographed process perfected over nearly four decades. "Our company's core philosophy has always been to take care of our clients," says Rocky Rhodes.

"We listen to homebuyers, pay close attention to what they want, and tailor our business to that."

Rock and sister Lindy brought the second generation of family to the business when they joined Dusty in the 1980s.

The result of this customer-focused philosophy? Growth primarily as a result of referrals and buyers who have relied on the company to build two, three, and four homes for them.

Customer-based design, features

Dusty Rhodes Homes on-staff design professionals help ensure your dreams are reflected in your dream home. Want to move a wall, add a bedroom, or reconfigure a room? The process is simple. It's the kind of customizing not possible with national or reproduction builders.

Listening to buyers and anticipating trends means the homes Dusty Rhodes Homes builds include standard features that are often extras or upgrades with other builders.

"Many of our most popular homes are in their third, fourth, or fifth generation of improvements because we've made changes after talking with customers. Examples being, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and designer pullout kitchen faucet. You don't often find those as standard in anything but high-end custom homes."

Standard features also include hardwood floors, tile backsplashes and fireplace surrounds, squeak-resistant truss flooring systems, rot-resistent siding and trim, R40 attic insulation, low-E windows, and two coats of exterior paint.

Dynamic carefully thought out floor plans have evolved to reflect changing tastes in family-style homes.

Home offices accommodate both in-home businesses and family needs, hearth rooms and open kitchens invite gatherings and entertainment, first-floor bedrooms with attached bathroom mean convenience and lifestyle flexibility. Exquisite trim packages speak to style and sophistication, while circular stairway entrances make their own elegant statement.

There's more good news. Because so many components are standard, buyers needn't worry about adding thousands of dollars to extras to have the home they see as a model. "We try to limit the need for extras and options," Rocky explains.

The 2004 Parade of Homes attests to the success of the Dusty Rhodes Homes philosophy. The company won seven awards for design and quality of construction.

And because quality is simply a given for Dusty Rhodes Homes, a two-year limited warranty is also standard on each home.

Home prices range from the upper $100,000s to the upper $400,000's.

Customer Care

The company's customer-based business philosophy means innovation. An on-staff customer service representative responds to customer questions and concerns promptly. A hotline takes calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Customer care doesn't end when the buyer moves in.

"We believe it's as important to take care of clients after the sale as it is before," Rocky says.

Coming Soon: One-Stop Shopping

With the opening of its in-house design center in July, Dusty Rhodes Homes is making the home-building process even easier for customers. Located at 16221 Foster in Overland Park, the center will include everything buyers can consider in a home.

"We know people are busy," Rocky says, "so we're going to make the process even simpler and save client's time. Customers will be able to choose components for their homes that are right for them and for their lifestyle -- all in one place.

Communities

Dusty Rhodes Homes is not only careful with the homes it builds, the company is as selective with where those homes are built. "We choose the best locations in the metropolitan Kansas City area," Rocky says.

One of these outstanding communities is Hampton Place at 159th Street and Nall Avenue in southern Johnson County. Nestled along curving, tree-lined streets and cul-de-sacs, Hampton Place is a community that invites evening strolls, impromptu gatherings, and celebrations.

Located in the award-winning Blue Valley School District, the community is close to outstanding public schools as well as St. Michael the Archangel School.

There is a very good selection of homesites available in the final phase.

Homes as Unique as their Owners

"We believe homes should be as unique as their owners," Rocky observes. "We believe dream homes should come true. We do that with a level of customizing you don't often see in this price range."

Dusty Rhodes Homes builds not just beautiful homes -- it builds dreams.
